Dispatcher/Phone Receptionist

This is a Full-time position in Fresno, CA posted June 12, 2021.

Description

PURPOSE/FUNCTION: Assists the public by answering various questions, transferring calls to the appropriate departments, and/or gather information for Animal Control and/or Humane Officers in order to respond.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT: Work in a highly fast paced environment. Must be able to handle calls concerning animals, animal emergencies, animal cruelty and/or neglect. Sit for long periods of time. Ability to lift and carry office equipment and printed materials weighting up to 15 lbs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist the public by answering questions regarding CCSPCA organization and programs and/or transfer calls to the appropriate department or outside agencies.
  • Determine if calls possess requirements and relative priorities of situations in order to dispatch Animal Control Officers.
  • Record details of calls and all Animal Control Officers dispatches on our computer software.
  • Question callers to determine their locations and the nature of their problems to determine type of assistance needed.
  • Enter, update, and retrieve information from computerized data systems regarding such things as location and past records.
  • Maintain files, access, and secure sensitive materials.
  • Observe maps to determine where a specific emergency risk is in the dispatch service area.
  • Maintain files of information relating to emergency calls such as personnel rosters, emergency call-out and incident report files.
  • Process reporting parties information and Animal Control reports by reviewing data for deficiencies; resolving discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the supervisor.
  • Keep customer information confidential.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Ability to give directions, identify streets/locations in Fresno. Able to operate under pressure and recall large amounts of information. Learn or know laws pertaining to animals. Strong customer service skills. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times. General knowledge of all CCSPCA departments and their respective functions. Bilingual

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year experience in customer service, Six (6) months

experience answering multi-line line phone system.

Benefits

Temporary full time position. Schedule Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM. $14.00/hour.
