Customer Service Representative

Alaska Marine Trucking, LLC

This is a Contract position in Fresno, CA posted September 14, 2021.

Possesses a genuine desire to serve the Customer by processing and providing information through a multitude of avenues including, but not limited to, the essential functions of the job listed below.

Processes and provides barge/ferry cargo availability/routing/ freight rating information for customers.

Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned: Attendance and timeliness are an essential function of this position.

Process Bills of Lading for receiving freight, review bill for complete information, assign codes and follow shipping instructions as required.

Enter alpha and numeric receiving data from source documents into computer in an office and/or warehouse environment.

Processes a variety of documents such as Bills of Lading, Delivery Receipts, freight manifests, bookings, and other information in accordance with established Company standards.

Log containers on barge stow plans while ensuring accuracy of information entered.

Process and inspect vehicles, equipment and break bulk cargo for shipment to Alaska.

Quote rates and document cargo bookings.

Investigates and resolves discrepancies involving over, short, or damaged freight.

Enter documents into scanning (imaging) system.

Accept customer payments and sign-off on inbound vehicle deliveries.

Generate rates on bills using computer program.

Answer a variety of customer information requests by phone, e-mail, and fax or in person regarding rates, routing, packing procedures and interline transportation procedures.

Perform audits to ensure accuracy of customer billing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Education or G.E.D or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years related experience.

Knowledge of current customers, requirements and processes is helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as tariffs, procedure manuals, employee and safety handbooks.

Ability to speak effectively to customers and/or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES PC Skills Required: Windows, Word, Excel, Internet browser tools, Outlook Keyboard and ten-key by touch Employee must enjoy the challenge of working in a multiple task
– fast paced environment.

Employee must possess a genuine desire and skill to meet the customer’s needs in the most efficient manner possible.

Ability to prioritize and problem-solve in time/safety-sensitive situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee must be able to hear and speak while communicating with customers and coworkers in person, on the telephone or on radios.

The employee must possess close, distance, color peripheral and depth perception.

REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE): Employee is required to wear PPE as outlined in Companys Industrial Health and Safety Manual Chapter 2.27 PPE Program, which may include hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respiratory protection and arctic gear.
