The individual hired for this position must possess a California Class A Drivers LicenseWith air brake endorsement or must obtain within six (6) months of assignment.Standard Requirement: Possess a valid California Class C Drivers License along with a driving record that isAcceptable to the Districts automobile insurance provider.

Possess an automotive air conditioning certificateFor service and repair or must be obtained within twelve (12) months of appointment.

Ability to lift 100 poundsAnd climb stationary ladders up to 100 feet in height, work suspended above ground in a bosun chair or aerialLift.Position SummaryThe Equipment Mechanic position is a skilled position in the Procurement & Amp; Fleet ServicesDepartment.

ThisPosition will report to the Districts Five Points Field Office which is approximately 45 miles southwest of Fresno, CA.

Normal working hours are 7:00 a.M.

to 3:30 p.M.

with a 30-minute lunch.The primary duties of the Equipment Mechanic position include, but are not limited to, performing predictiveAnd preventive repair, overhaul, and maintenance of automotive vehicles, construction-type, mobile, earthmoving, and load-lifting equipment, and various heavy-duty, portable and stationary engines.

This position will also schedule, coordinate, organize, and provide automotive shop work instructions, and assist in setting job priorities and selecting work means and methods.

The Equipment Mechanic will repair defective or worn parts and accessories which may require the use of acetylene or arc welding equipment and will also service and repair air conditioning systems with appropriate and applicable coolant.

This position will maintain and service shop equipment such as stationary fuel pumps, steam cleaners and high-pressure washer, pneumatic air equipment for lube room, and auto shop hoist.

The Equipment Mechanic will also perform monthly safety inspections on trucks/trailers rigs, and data entry of approval inspection sheets, as required by the California Highway Patrol Partners in Compliance (PIC) Program.
