The Aquatics Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing cutting-edge aquatics fitness instruction through a variety of entertaining and educational methods to promote fitness and a positive self-esteem in a safe environment.

They will act as a fitness resource for class participants and maintain positive relationships with members to encourage continued class attendance.Specific ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsProvide cutting-edge aquatic group fitness instruction that appeals to members of all ages andactivity levelsAchieve daily class attendance goals by developing strong relationships with current class participants and striving to attract new participantsOffer challenging and educational aquatic routines to help members reach their health and fitness goalsAdminister emergency care to members and guests in need of assistanceWork as a TEAM with all other departmentsOther duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisorOther FunctionsBe knowledgeable about all programs and activities offered by Active WellnessPromote club services and activitiesPerform routine maintenance of Aquatics equipmentAssist with keeping the club well stocked and cleanAttend Active Wellness site meetings and trainingHandle injury and illness and security incident reportingRequirements:Qualifications and Education Requirements4-year college degree in fitness-related field or certificate from an accredited 2-year program at a university preferredPrevious health club personal training experience is a plusHigh school diploma or GEDOne-year experience as a fitness instructorPhysically fit to lead a class at the appropriate levelDevelop routines with appropriate music and choreographyComplete continuing education requirement of 10 hrs./yearMinimum of one nationally recognized Group Exercise CertificationAEA or similar Aqua Aerobics Certification is requiredMust be detail-oriented, organized, and highly responsive with a commitment to customer serviceStrong verbal communication skillsBasic computer skills, customer service skills, results-oriented, ability to multitask, and commitment to the fitness industryAED/CPR/First Aid CertifiedProof of citizenship or legal statusPhysical and Working Conditions Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of othersAbility to stand for several hours in the same shift; ability to lift 25 lbsFitness club environmentMust follow OSHA and Active Wellness safety standards
