Account Manager Sales

Electric Motor Shop & Supply, Inc.

This is a Contract position in Fresno, CA posted February 19, 2021.

Established in 1913, Electric Motor Shop is a premier electrical contractor, motor repair shop and electrical supply wholesale distributor. The Electric Motor Shop’s state of the art repair facility offers all levels of motor and pump repair, service and rewinding, with 24 hour service availability. Our supply division has one of the largest stocking warehouses in Central California. We also have a fully licensed professional contracting division capable of providing service for small to large industrial projects, including custom panel design and installation, PLC programming, AC drives, and transformer installations.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for creating and maintaining solid, long term business relationships with customers and reaching sales and gross margin goals. This includes prospecting and soliciting orders within the guidelines established by management, identifying customer needs and proposing solutions and appropriate products and services to meet those needs.

  

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • ·        Develop a sustainable sales and profit volume in assigned territory.
  • ·        Regularly make sales calls to prospective and current customers.
  • ·        Distribute marketing material to customers.
  • ·        Utilize a proactive sales approach to sell products and services, offer add on and up sell products that may benefit the customer  and suggest alternative products when a customer requested product is not available.
  • ·        Cultivate and maintain solid, long term relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • ·        Assist and resolve customer requests or problems in a prompt and professional manner.
  • ·        Handle after hours call duty as assigned.
  • ·        Motivation to initiate product research and continuing education.
  • ·        Reach sales and gross margin goals.
  • ·        Introduce and demonstrate new products.
  • ·        Keep customers informed about all relevant company and vendor policies.
  • ·        Report competitive conditions, observed customer financial weakness and customer feedback to management.
  • ·        Cooperate with suppliers to secure mutual business through joint sales calls.
  • ·        Execute sales effort in an ethical and professional manner that will reflect favorably on the reputation of both the account manager and the company.
  • ·        Attend sales, product and other branch or company meetings.
  • ·        Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instruction;: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes: (b) perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; (c) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor.
  • ·        Regular and reliable attendance.
  • ·        Must be able to safely bend, stoop, lift and move objects, max of 50 pounds. Physically capable of opening boxes, crates and other large containers using hand tools to unpack items received.
  • ·        Follow all relevant safety, quality and environmental control procedures and instructions so that personal safety and the safety of others is not jeopardized.
  • ·         Maintain a clean work environment. 
  • ·        Must be able to communicate and understand the needs of the department.
  • ·        Neatness in personal appearance and the ability to establish and maintain good relations with fellow employees and customers by providing courteous, efficient and professional service.
  • ·        Promote teamwork and assist others with their initiatives and efforts.
  • ·        Communicate well both verbally and in writing with supervisor and coworkers.
  • ·        Other tasks as directed by division manager.

Required and Preferred Qualifications (Skills, Education and Experience)

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

Education and Experience

  • Excellent presentation, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Some college, technical degree or job / product related experience
  • Experience Preferred: 1-2+ years of sales experience.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints and against deadlines.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • California Drivers License with clean driving record
  • Must be 25 years of age
  • Willing to participate in drug/alcohol/background screening;

·        Initiative, the ability to work independently, flexibility, enthusiasm, resilience, self-confidence, and self-motivation.

·        Must be responsible, reliable, honest, and independent.

Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills or Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs: Excel, Outlook, and Word.
