Supervisory Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Specialist (Regional Director)

This is a Full-time position in Fresno, CA posted January 22, 2021.


The California Marketing Field Office(CAMFO) is responsible for managing the Marketing Order and Agreement Division’s marketing order and agreement programs located primarily in California. As Regional Director, you will be responsible for the work of the field office, including administering and/or directing marketing order programs in the region and supervising CAMFO staff.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Leadership activities with success in bringing team members together with diverse interests to develop recommendations and solutions to complex agricultural issues. Initiating and leading high level meetings with agricultural industry groups and representatives from various segments to present information clearly and effectively. Meeting deadlines to provide documentation gathered from many agricultural sources where frequent changes arise that cause major shifts in priorities. Writing in a clear concise manner, summarizing complex agricultural issues, including experience explaining policies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture or a state government. Experience that demonstrates expert level knowledge of the fruits, vegetables and specialty products in the application of grade standards, certification practices, generic promotion, and pertinent regulations of the fruit and vegetable industry. Note: There is not an education substitution for this grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
